Fun End of Summer Ideas for the Backyard
Creating Memories for San Antonio FamiliesThe end of summer is quickly approaching. The days will soon be shorter and these hot, sunny days we love will soon become sweet memories. Just because summer is ending doesn’t mean that the fun has to. Below are our favorite end of summer activities for the backyard.
Host Your Own Backyard Games!Get into the spirit and set up your very own backyard games! Foot races and swimming laps in the pool are all easy to plan, but with just a few extra dollars and some creativity, you can create additional events such as:
- Pool Noodle Javelin Toss: Shape pool noodles in a circle tape them together. Hang them up and use another pool noodle as a javelin. Have participants toss the javelin through the circle-shaped noodles. (BONUS: You can lie the pool noodle toss game on the ground to create a football-style high knee drill race)
- Most Creative Dive: If you have a diving board, this is a must-do. Have guests vote on which dive is the best!
- Rowing: Use floaties, blow up boats, pool noodles – whatever you have on hand. Fastest rowing team wins!
Throw an End of Summer Themed BarbequeInvite friends and family over to partake in a themed barbeque. Some of the best end of summer ideas include:
- A Hawaiian Luau
- An All American BBQ (a great choice for Labor Day)
- A Decade-Themed BBQ
